11.11 We came from the stars
Hello dear friends! First newsletter in what feels like forever 👽 but what is time in the grand scheme of things? Just a measure to remind us how we need to connect again.
It has been a little difficult to collect myself to write , however now I feel more inclined to leave it for special occasions. Like today, 11.11. I am sipping on a cup of herbal tea, wearing a wool jumper and a white shirt, aligning with my masculine, ready to tackle the tasks of the day and share some insights about a current project I am working on. But also to ask you for some help…
I started my music project about 4 years ago. It came from a burst of inspiration and a few life events that I simply had to follow through. It’s hard to imagine who I would have been today if I hadn’t. Crazy! Some might say I scatter my energy and have too many creative projects on the go, but art and music live in a perfect symbiosis and continuously feed and complete each other. One represents my gentle, quiet, introverted side, while the other represents my laud, wild, extroverted side. Two seemingly opposite things that need each other to exist. Perhaps it sounds familiar?
As I have grown and changed over the years so has my art and my band. Our first single ‘Fuck Boy’ certainly has a special place in history (and for the love of God, can somebody use it for a soundtrack of a teen drama already!) but it also feels like a part of my past, younger self. An anthem of a specific era. The time has come for a new chapter for The Kobras, a chapter that has been building up strongly for the last year, but we haven't been able to share with the world just yet. New music, new visuals, same band members, just a bit more mature and comfortable with our writing and who we are as a unit. Propelled forward by the solar energy of the masculine and guided by the lunar light of the feminine 🌞🌚
This new chapter is recording our next EP. It will consist of four really, really special songs to us that we believe will touch you too and hopefully will continue to live long after we're gone. Stardust, Rabbit Hole, In The End and Big Jet Plane. The themes we explore in this EP are about life, death, The Universe and our place in it, purpose, togethernesses and community. It's strange times of change and transformation we live in and music is a powerful saving grace.
Our main focus now is to raise the money and record early next year, so we can hit the streaming platforms by spring time. Which is why we started a Kickstarter and here is where we need a little bit of help. Our goal is to reach £1500 and we already have 20% of that so far. We have put together some rewards for donations which we hope you'll appreciate but feel free to donate any amount you are comfortable with. The band will be forever grateful for your contributions! FOREVER!
You can do it HERE
There are quite a few rewards: t-shirts, tarot reading, a guitar lesson, bass lesson, album art lesson, songwriting session with the band, a private listen of unreleased demos of the four songs, or basically anything you can afford, anything helps!
We are soon going to have a fundraising acoustic show, so keep your eyes and ears open for that one too if you are in London!
Thank you for reading, keep your vibrations light and high👽✌🏼
Peace and love,
Dessy and The Kobras xxx
